Overview

Dow Jones Indexes maintains a variety of indexes beyond those in our standard index families. Typical examples include the following:

  • Composite indexes of securities listed on specific exchanges.
  • Indexes with modified weighting schemes.
  • Indexes created to isolate specific company or security types (e.g. LPTs or IPOs).
  • Indexes of securities that are available only to local investors.

Aside from rules addressing these objectives, the methodologies of these indexes are consistent with those of our standard index families.

Dow Jones Australia LPT Index

The index measures the performance of Listed Property Trusts (LPTs) traded on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Dow Jones CBN China 600 Index

The index represents the 600 largest A-shares traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges based on float-adjusted market capitalization.

Dow Jones CBN China 600 Sector Blue-Chip Indexes

The indexes track the largest publicly traded stocks in China within specific industry sectors. The indexes are subsets of the Dow Jones CBN China 600 Index, which tracks the largest 600 A-shares traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

Dow Jones China 88 Index

The index represents the largest and most liquid A-shares traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

Dow Jones China Offshore 50 Index

The index represents the largest stocks of companies whose primary operations are in mainland China but that trade on exchanges in Hong Kong or the U.S.

Dow Jones Hong Kong IPO Index

The index represents new listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange during the past 12 months.

Dow Jones ASE 100 Index

The index measures the performance of the largest stocks traded on the Amman Stock Exchange.

Dow Jones Bahrain Index

The index represents all companies domiciled and headquartered in Bahrain whose stocks trade on the Bahrain Stock Exchange.

Dow Jones GCC Index

The index measures the stock performance of companies in the GCC region, which covers Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The index intends to measure stocks that are accessible to local investors.

Dow Jones GCC ex-Saudi Index

The index measures the stock performance of companies traded in the GCC region, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The index excludes Saudi Arabia because it is not open to foreign investment.

Dow Jones MSM Index

The index represents all companies listed on the Oman Stock Exchange, Muscat Securities Market, that trade at least 10 days in a quarter.

Dow Jones Kuwait Composite Index

The index represents all companies domiciled and headquartered in Kuwait whose stocks trade on the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

Dow Jones SAFE 100 Index

The index measures the performance of 50 of the largest stocks trading in India and 50 of the largest stocks trading in Bangladesh, Mauritius, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Dow Jones SAFE Pakistan Index

The index is composed of Pakistan-traded securities. It is a subindex of the Dow Jones SAFE 100 Index, which measures the performance of 50 of the largest stocks trading in India and 50 of the largest stocks trading in Bangladesh, Mauritius, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Dow Jones Turkey Equal Weighted 15 Index

The index provides an equal-weighted measure of the largest stocks traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

Dow Jones UAE Select Index

The index measures the performance of the largest and most liquid stocks trading on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Abu Dhabi Securities Market (AD) and Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX).

Dow Jones UAE 25 Index (Local)

The Dow Jones UAE 25 Index (Local) measures the performance of 25 of the largest and most liquid equity securities trading in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), excluding foreign-listed stocks.

Dow Jones Select Sector Indexes

The Dow Jones U.S. Select Sector Indexes measure precise, and typically narrowly-defined, sectors of the U.S. stock market. To be included in the indexes, stocks must meet minimum size requirements based on market capitalization. Component weights are capped for diversification.

BRIC

Dow Jones BRIC 50 Index

A composite of the four subindexes, this index represents 50 of the largest and most liquid stocks traded in the Brazil, Russia, India and China Offshore markets.

Dow Jones BRIC Brazil 15 Index

The index represents 15 of the largest and most liquid stocks traded on the Bovespa stock exchange of Brazil.

Dow Jones BRIC China 15 Index

The index represents 15 leading companies whose primary operations are in mainland China but whose stocks trade on the exchanges of Hong Kong and the U.S. Eligible stocks include H shares, ADRs/ADSs and U.S.-listed only stocks.

Dow Jones BRIC India 15 Index

The index represents 15 of the largest and most liquid stocks traded on the Bombay and National stock exchanges of India.

Dow Jones BRIC Russia 5 Index

The index represents 5 of the largest and most liquid stocks traded on the RTS and Micex stock exchanges of Russia.

Other Regional Indexes

Dow Jones FEAS Composite Index

The index measures the performance of stocks traded on exchanges that are members of the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS).

Dow Jones U.K. Smaller Companies Index

Represents U.K.-traded, small-capitalization stocks that have readily available prices.
